3rd Quarter 2019 Market Outlook

If you see my lovely wife today, please sing happy birthday to her.  Today is her big 4-0!  July also marks the 10thbirthday for our bull market.   My gut says my wife has a few good years left in her much like I feel that the bull market may have a little more of a run left in it.

On the Personal Side:

Our family returned from our RV tour of 9 National Parks forever changed. We were awed by the beauty and variety our great country has to offer.  We met new friends from all corners of the globe.  Evan and I watched Lila and Amelia gain confidence with each Junior Ranger badge they earned.  I watched Evan’s confidence grow each time she emptied the bowels of the RV.  Secretly I may have been slightly nervous about spending the most consecutive time I have ever spent with my family.  Now openly I can admit it was totally awesome!

On the business side:

Brooke and Hollie did a fantastic job while I was gone as is to be expected.  While we stayed in close communication, I couldn’t be more thankful for the wonderful people I get to work with.  Reality did set in when I returned and they were more excited to see my dog, Cash, than they were to see me.

Brooke and Hollie are both studying to get licensed.  I am super proud of both of them for the hard work and dedication it takes to study, work full time and raise awesome children.  They will also attend the national conference for Cetera this year where they will be surrounded by other financial dorks from around the country to learn the latest new ways to better care for our clients.  Our office will be closed from Monday, July 22 through Thursday, July 25 although we will be responding to emails during that time.

Travel:

I wore my Matt Logan Inc hat for much of the trip.  I would love to send you one so you can send me a photo of you wearing it while on your travels.  Please let us know if you would care to take a hat and a fun picture of your next adventure.  We still have hats if you would like to have one please email Hollie and she will mail one to you.

Social Media:

While I am cognizant of your inbox and do not send out information regularly via email, I do post with more regularity on social media.  Please follow me or like my page.  Let’s connect on LinkedIn or Twitter at @mattloganinc ,or follow my channel on Youtube or  follow my page on Facebook. We will be posting regularly on our blog as well so be sure to check it out from time to time.

We have consolidated our online account access through E-money. If you would like to set up an account and do not work with us currently, please email us to set up an account.  If you have already set up your account and would like to access your accounts, click here.  More often, we are helping facilitate financial communication among generations.  If you are concerned about your parents and their financial situation this could be a good solution for you.

The Bus:

The bus had graduations, weddings, birthdays and even a New Kids On The Block show this past quarter.  The variety of events it is used for continues to be a source of enjoyment for us.  Please do not hesitate to reach out if you are working on a non-profit auction as we are always happy to help with a donation of time on the bus.

Featured Blog Post:

As you know we love to experiment with various forms of communication.  This month’s featured blog post includes a video filmed in our very own studio in our office:  Hitting the Road: How to Stick to a Budget on Vacation

Third Quarter Outlook:

Halfway through 2019, I would say that the best way to describe the year thus far is a whole lot of turbulence. From trade wars to politics to inverted yield curves to interest rate hikes we have had a number of factors contributing to the market undulations.  The underlying jobs situation is strong with more jobs than people looking for jobs.  We seem to be at a solid balance now and the Federal Reserve has indicated that they are willing to do what it takes to help the economy expand.  At the risk of making you sick to your stomach, we have an election looming and I fully expect the current administration to do everything in their power to have the economy humming when Americans return to the polls. That bodes well for your portfolio. For a more in depth economic look, click here for the Third Quarter 2019 Outlook: Mixed Signals.
